Acadia National Park Echo Lake Beach
Echo Lake Beach, on Echo Lake on Mount Desert Island, Maine, is staffed by a lifeguard from Memorial Day to Labor Day.


 

Head toward Southwest Harbor to visit Echo Lake, a popular freshwater swimming area.

 

Echo Lake Beach, on the west side of the island, offers a somewhat warmer swimming experience. Other freshwater lakes located in the park serve as drinking water reservoirs and are closed to swimming and wading.

  • Access to Beech Mountain hiking trails
  • Boating - 10-horsepower limit
  • Both beaches are provided with Island Explorer Shuttle Bus pickup and drop-off
